This blog is basically from the point of view of a sports copy editor. Here, posts about grammar, sports and the journalism industry can mingle in peace. (Posts about severe weather and my pictures of it have been known to appear here, too.)
I created this blog for a few reasons. One, to exercise my opinionated side, which gets stifled all too often as a copy editor. (For example – circa 2008-09, “Thunder fall to Mavericks” is a preferable headline to “Thunder suck again”.)
Two, to stretch my writing muscles. I love to write. I have been a reporter, but I have no real desire to go back to that. The work, while satisfying, can be awfully taxing on someone who likes a more structured schedule. I do miss the sunshine, writing and meeting new people, though.
Last of all, I Googled high and low for a sports-copy-editing blog written by a woman and couldn’t find one. So I made one.
